How to Order Artwork
D-ARTIST connects art lovers and collectors directly with verified artists. Understand how our order logging works, our direct peer-to-peer communication model, and our 0% commission commitment.
D-ARTIST does not process online payments or act as a financial intermediary. We do not take cuts, handling percentages, or commissions from artists' sales. The platform creates an official acquisition request and opens direct communication via WhatsApp or Email so buyer and artist can coordinate payment methods (such as direct bank transfer or cash on delivery) and courier logistics on their own agreed terms.
The Acquisition Process in 5 Steps
Discover and Inspect the Artwork
Browse the Art Gallery, explore by medium, or visit an artist's portfolio. Click on any piece to inspect high-resolution imagery, dimensions (height × width), medium, paper or canvas specifications, creation year, and stated price in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR).
Click "Order Art"
If the piece is marked available, click the Order Art button on the artwork page. If you are not signed in, you will be prompted to sign into your free collector account so the order can be associated with your profile.
Provide Delivery Address & Choose Channel
On the order page (dartist.lk/order), confirm your contact details:
- Delivery Address: Enter your full name, contact phone number, and physical shipping address (saved securely in your account for future orders).
- Communication Channel: Select either WhatsApp or Email as your preferred channel to communicate with the artist.
- Collector Notes: (Optional) Add any specific questions, custom framing inquiries, or special delivery instructions.
Order Record Logged in Database
When you click Place Acquisition Order, D-ARTIST automatically:
- Creates an immutable order record in the Cloudflare D1 database.
- Generates a unique tracking reference code (e.g.
ORD-XXXXXX). - Dispatches in-app notifications and email alerts to both you and the verified artist.
Direct Artist Communication
Immediately after the order record is created:
- WhatsApp Orders: The system automatically formats a detailed message with the artwork title, reference ID, and your inquiry details, opening a direct WhatsApp chat with the artist.
- Email Orders: A pre-addressed correspondence thread is opened directly with the artist's studio email.
You and the artist can then discuss payment arrangement (such as direct bank transfer), packaging preferences (rolled in tube or flat wooden crate), and insured courier dispatch.
Tracking Your Acquisitions
You can monitor all your pending and past acquisition requests at any time:
- Collector Account: Visit Collector Account and navigate to the My Orders tab.
- Order Tracking: Enter your tracking reference at Order Tracking.
- Artist Status Updates: The artist can update the order status inside Artist Studio (e.g. Contacted, Preparing, Shipped, Completed), which updates your account view in real time.
