How to Upload Artwork

Verified artists manage their catalog through the Artist Studio Workspace. Follow these steps to prepare, document, and publish your physical artwork.

Prerequisite: Verified Artist Status

Artwork upload is available to accounts that have completed artist verification. If you have not yet applied, please visit How to Become an Artist first.

Publishing Your Artwork in 6 Steps

01 Access

Open Artist Studio

Sign into your verified account and click Studio in the top navigation or visit dartist.lk/studio. From the left sidebar, click Upload Artwork (or navigate to Artworks → Add New).

02 Imagery

Upload High-Quality Artwork Photos

Upload a primary photograph of your physical artwork. Follow our curatorial photography guidelines:

  • Even, Natural Lighting: Photograph under diffuse daylight or 5000K daylight-balanced bulbs without harsh reflections or glass glare.
  • Straight Perspective: Position the camera parallel to the paper or canvas to avoid keystone distortion.
  • Supported Formats: JPEG, PNG, or WebP. Files are uploaded securely to Cloudflare R2 storage at media.dartist.lk. Maximum size: 50MB.
03 Core Details

Enter Title, Story & Year

Tell the story of the piece. Provide:

  • Artwork Title: The official name of your piece.
  • Story / Description: Describe the inspiration, subject matter, context, or technical approach behind the piece.
  • Year Created: The year the work was completed.
04 Physical Specs

Select Medium & Physical Dimensions

Traditional art buyers care deeply about tangible specifications:

  • Approved Medium: Select the accurate discipline — Pencil, Graphite, Charcoal, Ink, Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil, Pastel, Colored Pencil, Handmade Art, or Traditional Illustration.
  • Substrate & Materials: State the surface (e.g. 300gsm cold-press Arches paper, stretched Belgian linen, MDF wood panel).
  • Dimensions: Specify Height, Width, and Depth (in inches or centimeters).
  • Framing & Signature: State whether the piece is framed or unframed, and where it is signed.
05 Pricing

Pricing & Acquisition Status

Determine how collectors can interact with this piece:

  • For Sale: Enter the direct price in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). When buyers order, they contact you directly. D-ARTIST takes 0% commission.
  • Exhibition Only / Not for Sale: If the piece is in a private collection or personal archive, mark it as Exhibition Only to display without a price.
  • Mark as Sold: Once acquired, you can toggle the status to Sold at any time from Studio.
06 Certification

Artisan Certification & Publish

Before publishing, every artist must check the Artisan Certification:

"I hereby declare and certify that this piece is an authentic physical, traditional hand-crafted artwork rendered by myself using traditional fine art materials in compliance with D-ARTIST's Artist Guidelines, Copyright Policy, and Terms of Service. It contains zero AI generation, digital painting, or synthetic alteration."

Click Publish Artwork (or Save as Draft to finish later).

Where Does Your Artwork Appear?

Once published, your piece is instantly live across the D-ARTIST ecosystem:

  • Your Public Portfolio: Visible at your clean address (dartist.lk/username) with high-res zoom and full specs.
  • Main Art Gallery: Featured in Browse Artworks under its discipline category.
  • Search & Medium Archives: Discoverable by collectors searching for specific tags or mediums.
  • Curated Collections: You can add the piece to personal curated series inside Studio.
